Biography & Life Story of Lady Gaga, an Award-winning Pop Icon

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, also known with the stage name Lady Gaga, is American singer-songwriter and actress who got the world recognition through her numerous popular songs, including “Poker Face” and “Born This Way”. She is known for her signature strong vocal skill and unique costumes while performing on stage.

Germanotta was born in New York on March 28, 1986 and grew up playing musical instrument. She was only 4 when she began learning the piano. While attending a private Catholic school, she actively performing music. At the age of 13, she wrote her first piano ballad and had her first performance in a night club when she was 14. As a brainy child, Germanotta was accepted in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, became one of the only 20 students in the world. After two years studying, she decided to withdraw from school to pursue her career as a musician.

She signed to Def Jam Records for a short time in 2005 before she performed by her own from clubs to clubs and made a collaboration with bands. At that time she made a stage name “Lady Gaga” which from the Queen’s Radio Ga-Ga and became her own character. In 2007, the 20-year-old Gaga was employed as a songwriter in Interscope Records, worked with world class musicians such as Britney Spears and New Kids on The Block. She was scouted by the singer Akon to be a performer under in Kon Live, an associate company of Interscope. Lady Gaga’s debut album The Fame (2008) became a major breakthrough for her career. She released her debut single “Just Dance” and soon made her name popular internationally. The single also got a Grammy Award nomination for best dance recording and debuted on top of the radio chart. It followed with the successful “Poker Face” that gained popularity across the world and another chart-topper tracks “Paparazzi” and “LoveGame”. By the end of 2009, the album sold more than 8 million copies and made Lady Gaga received numerous awards, including five Grammy nominations and three Brit Awards in the following year.

Her name kept rising to stardom with the follow up album The Fame Monster (2009) featuring the hit singles “Telephone” and “Bad Romance”. In 2010, she held a sold-out concert tour and performed in NBC’s Today show in front of 20,000 people. The successful Lady Gaga was listed in Time’s 100 Most Influential People and featured in Billboard magazine as artist of the year. She also received another Grammy nods for her work. Lady gaga came back with Born This Way in 2011 with the hit “Judas”. Even though this album got comparisons to Madonna’s album, the tracks was well-received commercially. In 2020, she launched Chromatica, her sixth studio album with disco-electronic-pop songs, just like the vibe she brought from her earlier music.

Besides singing, she played a role in several movies and television show, including American Horror Story: Hotel which earned her a Golden Globe Award. In 2018, she starred in A Star is Born, a successful movie that made her received an Oscar nomination. The lead single she was co-written for the movie, “Shallow”, won an Oscar for Best Original Song and two Grammy nods. Lady Gaga successfully earned 11 Gammy Awards for her work in the movie.
